Taste of Crete Authentic Greek Specialties were a Tasty Addition to Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation Fundraiser in New Jersey

In partnership with American Express, Taste of Crete proudly participated in Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation to raise funds to fight childhood hunger in New Jersey.

BRIDGEWATER, N.J.--(PR Newswire) – May 19, 2008 – Presented by American Express, Jenn-Air and NJDiningGuide.net, Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation successfully raised awareness and critical funds in the fight against hunger. Taste of Crete participated with a broad sampling of its fine Greek all-natural and organic specialty foods at last week’s event held on Monday, May 5th at the Madison Hotel in Madison NJ. Other participants included some of NJ’s best restaurants and top wine producers.

Share Our Strength's Taste of the Nation is distinctive because 100% of all ticket proceeds go directly to fight hunger and poverty. All participants come together at this culinary extravaganza to donate their time, talent and passion to end childhood hunger in New Jersey and across America.

Esther Luongo Psarakis, founder and owner of Taste of Crete LLC states: “This is the second year we have participated. Again it was a very rewarding experience. Obviously, it is for a great cause that positively affects children in need and makes a lasting difference in their young lives. From our perspective though, people get to try our Greek natural foods and see how they are actually used in recipes in the healthy Mediterranean Diet. It also allows us to promote the local gourmet, specialty and wine shops that carry our products.” Area stores carrying Taste of Crete's products include Whole Foods, Balducci’s, Kings Supermarkets, Gary’s Wine and Marketplace, When City Meets Country, Gallery of Bliss, What’s in the Icebox, Wine Library, The Marketplace and others.

Ms. Psarakis further elaborates: “We really enjoy participating in these events, because they provide exposure for our products and simultaneously serve a greater purpose for the community. Only last week, we were at Taste of Somerset held in the Palace Hotel which raised money for the Peoplecare Center and other non-profits in Somerset Country”
