Portokalopita (Orange Bread)
Greek sweet quick bread which would go great with our delicious Greek marmalades and honeys.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup Taste of Crete extra virgin olive oil
- 2 cups orange juice
- Zest from 1 lemon
- Zest from 2 oranges
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 shot glass cognac
- 1 tsp cloves
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F
- Beat sugar with the olive oil in a mixer.
- Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder mixed with cognac, orange juice, the lemon and orange zests, the cinnamon, and the cloves. Mix well.
- Empty the mixture into a greased loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour.
