Portokalopita (Orange Bread)

Greek sweet quick bread which would go great with our delicious Greek marmalades and honeys.

Ingredients:


  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup Taste of Crete extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 cups orange juice
  • Zest from 1 lemon
  • Zest from 2 oranges
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 shot glass cognac
  • 1 tsp cloves

Directions:


  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F
  2. Beat sugar with the olive oil in a mixer.
  3. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder mixed with cognac, orange juice, the lemon and orange zests, the cinnamon, and the cloves. Mix well.
  4. Empty the mixture into a greased loaf pan. Bake for 1 hour.
  5. Try this with our delicious marmalades and honeys!
